Thad Duvall has started carrying a lot of momentum into the current GNCC rounds. He has four podiums and one win in the XC1 class. He has started riding his 250F more consistently, instead of just for races like the ‘tough mudder’. Listen in as we talk with him about the stigmas of being from West Virginia, ‘Bad Thad’ and what it’s going to take to keep the momentum to get some more wins.

Thad Duvall to make his LIVE Seat Time appearance

Thad Duvall is hot off his fourth podium finish in the 2013 GNCC Series and will grace the Seat Time virtual couch tonight to chat about his stellar performances. Two weeks ago Duvall placed his Shenandoah Honda on the top step of the podium in Kentucky by winning the “Tough Mudder”. He has also competed in a few National Enduro’s this year, with his highest finish being a third in South Carolina. The fun thing about Duval though is he has a sense of humor, something we at Seat Time hope to take full advantage of.

In consistent form, we started off this episode a few minutes late, but our guests were so good, it was worth the wait. Jen Kenyon, GNCC Live personality and media guru, joined us as co-host to help wrangle stories and adventures from Zach Nolan and Max Gerston. Zach had an impressive, career first, XC2 win this past weekend at the ‘tough mudder’ GNCC while Max took on the first round of the Endurocross Series in Las Vegas. Laugher was high, the stories showed the riders enthusiasm and the word creek was pronounced in multiple fashions.

Review : FLY Racing Pro Lite Chest Protector and Valor Neck Brace

James Hill has been racing and riding for the better half of his life. He has competed against the top Texas Cross Country racers and competed Nationally at a few OMA’s. Like most fast riders, he has had a few crashes that left him headed to the hospital. One in particular was the one that broke his back. James is all better now and back at it, racing his dirt bike most weekends in either TSCEC or TCCRA. After winning the 30+A TORO Championship this past winter, his opinion on protective gear was a needed asset. Though James is quite the opposite of Brian, with less energy and a quite demeanor, he has ridden for a very long time and knows the value of good equipment.

In this review, James tested out the new FLY Racing Pro Lite Chest Protector and Valor Neck Brace. As he states in the video, the chest protector stays put. It is very adjustable with velcro straps for fine tuning placement on the chest and back, allowing for over or under the jersey placement. The 17 vents help to keep the rider cool on a warm day and it easily attaches to the Valor Neck Brace thanks to the exclusive BraceOn™ elastic strap system. This protector is very light and can withstand extremely hard impacts due to the highly rated CE Approved back protector and CE certified chest protector. A great chest protector at a great price, something every rider needs to own.

The Valor Neck Brace, partnered with the Leatt BraceOn™ elastic strap system, is the best Neck Brace setup we have tested. As the Neck Brace technology gets better, neck braces become lighter, stronger and more comfortable. Leatt knew one of the main complaints about neck braces in general was that without a chest strap, they would bounce around while riding. The BraceOn™ elastic strap system is a very good innovation to help fix the neck brace bouncing around. It didn’t happen while testing, but it seemed like it would be fairly easy for a branch, or stray object, to unsettle the strap system. But the brace looks great thanks to the FLY Racing graphics and the updated features to the brace certainly keep it relative and should be one you look into if you are looking at purchasing or replacing a neck brace.

Episode 82 : Raised Brake Pedal

As the weather starts to get a bit warmer and Spring rains start to fall, a lot of race series only have a few races left before a summer break. Supercross is wrapping up this weekend in Vegas, while EnduroCross is just starting up the Friday night before. We here in Texas have already had a few very warm days, but nothing blistering, yet. It will be here before we know it though, so make sure you get out there and enjoy the Spring weather while it is here.

Episode 82 brought Grant Baylor and Ian Blythe into the action from the Trials Training Center after they raced the Rad Dad National Enduro in Westpoint, Tennessee. Both of these racers have been competing in the XC2 class in the GNCC Series, while following the AMA/Rekluse National Enduro Series around the East Coast in 2013. It was a surprise that Grant was with Ian, but talking to these guys is great. Grant is trying to have fun while riding fast and get from underneath his brothers shadow. Ian has raced all over the world, but still feels the top Pro’s in the States are worthy of racing against.

Episode 81 : Washed Down the Hill

Tanner Thomas, New Hampshire native and 250A National Enduro competitor, joined James Hill and myself to discuss his current endeavors and recent off-road two wheeled news.

The X Games kicked off its world tour in Brazil and we were happy to be able to watch the Endurocross event live last Thursday evening. Round four of WORCS and GNCC happened this past weekend on opposite sides of the country, with Robby Bell and Charlie Mullins gaining momentum in the respective series.

With another National Enduro this weekend, we will see if Mullins can keep his win streak alive. TCCRA has an event just south of Ft. Worth, James will be out there testing and racing and I will hopefully make it out to do some filming. It should be a fun weekend and I look forward being outside and back at a race.

Episode 80 : We’re Back!

Jesse Groemm is the main effort for the AM Pro Yamaha team following the AMA/Rekluse National Enduro Series. This past weekend he had his best finish of the 2013 season, finishing fifth at the Cajun Classic National Enduro in Forest Hill, Louisiana. He is 21 years old, has a full time job as a Boilermakers Apprentice and is looking for a podium finish before the year’s end.

This was the first time that we have had Groemm on the show, but it certainly won’t be the last. He has a working man’s ethic and a strong set of values and opinions, all of which we look for in guests on the show. He knows what he did wrong this past weekend and why he fell back from his podium placement earlier in the race. He is going to attend a few local events to get ready for the next round of the National Enduro Series in Tennessee, where he hopes to better his season’s best fifth place finish.
