Such an intense, short season of SuperEnduro racing. Colton Haaker comes out of his rookie season of SuperEnduro racing with the World Championship. Cody Webb finished the season 5 points behind Haaker in second place, while Jonny Walker rounded out the podium in third, 22 points back.
If you’ve watched the entire SuperEnduro season, you know it’s been a crazy bit of intense racing. Cody Webb and Jonny Walker were the two fighting for the championship from the beginning. Colton Haaker was there, but didn’t seem to be a top step contender from the start of the season. Mishaps for both Webb and Walker, and great consistency and growth from Haaker, would allow Haaker to take over the points lead going into the final round in Spain.
Webb and Walker had a chance to retake the points lead and gain the championship. They had to race fast and have a little bit of luck on their side. Webb had the speed, but luck seemed to be against him. Walker seemed to have issues coming into the event, missing the top 5 in all three of the prestige events.
It’s great to see our American Endurocross racers heading to Europe and doing so well. So many aspects of racing in Europe can add difficulty to their performance. With the consistency they showed this year, the 2016 Endurocross Series is shaping up to be extremely close and nail biting.
