As teams are packing up their bikes and loading their containers, the awards are being prepared and the beer is being chilled. The 87th International Six Days Enduro is a wrap and it has been an amazing experience. Day Six is the traditional Moto Test day and in Germany it was a bit different. The test today was more of a Supermoto, with 40% concrete and 60% dirt, asking the riders to push it for one last day. Some were letting it all hang out on the concrete, while some played it safe and just rode around for the crowds.
Mike Brown and Charlie Mullins rode their motos with pure determination. Brownie got the holeshot, playing it safe, going to the inside of a multiple bike pileup. Mullins hugged the inside, banging into the tires, coming away with the holeshot. They both pulled away from the pack and won their respective motos in a winner take all fashion. The rest of the United States Trophy Team finished well enough to allow the USA to gain a one second lead over Finland to claim Fourth place. The rest of the podium teams stayed put in the standings, with France claiming the Overall victory, Australia held on for Second and Italy claimed Third.
France also claimed the Junior and Women’s Trophy Team Overall. In the Junior division, Great Britain rode a solid week to come away with Second Overall while the United States claimed Third. In the Women’s Division, Germany took Second, while the Australian Women rode to Third. Watching these ladies battle during the final Moto Test was a testament to how aggressive these ladies ride.
Teams are already taking about 2013 and the kind of momentum they would like to bring into the event. The ISDE will be in Sardinia, Italy, September 30th-October 5th. I have mentioned it to the wife, so we will see. This Pint Full of Awesome may be covering dirty diapers next year to make up for this year! I hope everyone has enjoyed the coverage and had as much fun as I did sharing this experience with you all. Please keep checking Facebook for more pictures as I get a chance to go through more pixels and share them for your ‘liking’ pleasure.
