The sport of Endurocross has felt weird for the past few years. Though we did have endurocross racing in 2019 and 2020, it was plagued with the Series being shut down, new ownership and then a worldwide pandemic. To see endurocross come back into arenas for 2021 is something all offroad fans should be celebrating. The racing action at the Tulsa Endurocross round was spectacular and you could tell the racers were itching to be under the lights and in front of the fans again. The lights in the BOK Center were bright but the fan turnout wasn’t too great. Indoor events are back to some capacity in the majority of the United States, but turnout for them still seems to be lackluster. Hopefully the turn out for the future endurocross rounds sees an uptick as more coverage hits the fans and the Series heads West.
As far as the racing on track goes, Colton Haaker was on a tear all night, going 1-1-1 in the three Super Endurocross Motos. Trystan Hart was second on the podium, admittingly “pissed”, with a 2-3-2. Cooper Abbott continued his 2020 rise to the front with a 3-2-3. Cory Graffunder and Will Riordan finished out the Top 5 respectively.
Riders of note were Tim Apolle and Ryder Leblond. Tim is from Germany and looks to be racing the entire 2021 Endurocross Series for Beta; he was 8th on the evening. Ryder is still a young pup, but continues to showcase growth, speed and technical prowess as every new season starts; Ryder finished 7th after three motos.
Round Two of the 2021 Endurocross Season picks up in Amarillo, TX, October 2nd. All Texans should hit up this race to support the Series and to enjoy some intense endurocross racing.
Where should I head next? I’m loving being at more events and covering the good times on two wheels! I’ve got a few videos in the works and I’m looking forward to growing the Seat Time Community.
