Fly Racing has just announced an updated Patrol line along with the all-new Patrol Elite in their off-road and adventure dirt bike gear lineup. It’s cool to see, because we’ve watched a lot of evolution from Fly on the moto side over the years, and now that same progression is making its way into their more off-road-centric gear. It’s a clear sign they’re serious about supporting riders beyond elite-level supercross and motocross racers, and into the trail, enduro riders (like me), and ADV crowd as well.
Patrol Elite
The new Patrol Elite line is the one that interests me the most. The addition of the BOA system to the Patrol Elite, on top of the buttons on the front, is a great way to get the fit you’re looking for. I also really like the slimmer fit of the newer stretch fabrics being used these days because they snag less on trees and shrubs while riding in the woods. The added ventilation on a more athletic-looking off-road pant has me excited for the Texas heat, although it does make me wish there was a lighter color option than just black or grey. Lastly, a dedicated phone pocket feels long overdue. I typically leverage my Trailbound handlebar bag for holding my phone, but for a quick rip to shoot some content, a cargo pocket is the way to go.

Patrol
The updated Patrol line is for the off-road rider who does not want to spend too much on gear but still needs durability and versatility. The Patrol gear looks like it will fit a little looser than Patrol Elite, which is great for different body types and for layering over armor. The cargo pockets also appear larger, so you can stash more than just a phone or snacks if you need to. The added ventilation will be very nice to have on hot days or on slower, more technical trails. Lastly, the base Patrol line includes an over-the-boot option for riders who prefer that style.

My 2007 over-the-boot gear combo in the picture below is a good example of what not to do.

Fast Technical Overview
Patrol Elite
- Four-way stretch chassis for increased mobility.
- Athletic fit designed to work over knee braces and armor.
- BOA waist closure for fast, micro-adjustable fit.
- Reinforced abrasion zones in high-impact areas.
- Targeted ventilation for off-road and ADV speeds.
- Low-profile cargo pockets for essentials.

Patrol
- Relaxed off-road fit for layering over armor.
- Durable main chassis for long-term use.
- Vent panels/vents to manage heat on slower trails.
- Multiple cargo pockets for tools and small items.
- Available in in-the-boot and over-the-boot options.

Patrol Softshell Jacket
The Patrol Softshell Jacket looks like a solid option for those cooler mornings or mid-season rides when a heavier riding jacket is overkill. The windproof, water‑resistant shell should help take the sting out of wind and light weather, while still breathing well enough for off-road use. The removable sleeves are nice to see, since being able to switch from a jacket to a vest on the same ride adds a lot of versatility for trail and dual sport riders.
