The idea that there are multiple spots to ride dirt bikes in Colorado is blowing my mind. For years, we spent time in, and around, Taylor Park. Then we found the trails around Sargents and the Tomichi Creek Trading post. Now I’ve been introduced to Montrose, which has a vast array of different riding right outside of town. If you haven’t been, or seen the ridges and ditches footage on youtube, start planning your trip now!

What’s great about riding dirt bikes at Peach Valley OHV and the Uncompahgre Plateau outside of Montrose is you’re extremely close to a large city. Taylor Park has a trading post, but you’re still a 30 minute drive from Almont if you need some city splurges. The Tomichi Creek Trading Post is well stocked in Sargents, but if you want something special, you’re driving into Gunnison. In Montrose, you can wake up in town, have coffee at a local coffee shop, breakfast with the locals, and then ride your bike toward the desert, or up to the Aspens on the plateau.

For our family trip, I planned a few riding days with Morgan from Highland Cycles. Though we did have an incident with a chainsaw, it was a memory maker of a trip! Riding the aspen singletrack on the Uncompahgre Plateau is magical, giving you a chance to weave your way through Colorado paradise. Peach Valley OHV has steep ridges, long hill climbs, and monster ditches that are the equivalent of a skatepark for dirt bikes.

We’re already planning a trip back so we can camp more, ride more, and explore more! I hope you enjoy some of the content we created while on the trip. If you’re planning to head that way, or want an organized trip, reach out to Highland Cycles, Gnarly Routes, or Ready to Ride Rentals.
