I’m tired of hearing the words “toughen up” or “you just need to grow some man hands”. That’s ignorance speaking, making the assumption that we’re all the same. Every rider is different, from hand size to skin texture. There is no “one size fits all” approach to growing calluses, or toughening up, to keep blisters and tears from happening while riding your dirt bike.
Once I learned how to trim my calluses with a callus shaver, I haven’t had a blister or a tear in that part of my palm since. Using palm protector products like those from Risk Racing or EVS have kept lower palm blisters from forming. Lastly, grip donuts have helped a ton for just a tad bit more thumb protection.
If you have a technique that works for you to help reduce blisters, share it on social and tag Seat Time so we can share it. Enjoy #GettingSeattime!
